Maureen O’Connor

Lawyer and judge with more than 40 years of professional experience, including working as a practising attorney, a magistrate and trial court judge, prosecuting attorney, lieutenant governor, Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, and Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court.

In 2003, she became a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ohio. From 2010 until 2023, served as Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, becoming the first woman in the 220-year history of the Ohio Supreme Court to serve as chief justice and the longest-serving woman to hold state-wide office in Ohio history.

Before that, she was the state’s lieutenant governor from 1999 until 2002. She was also a prosecuting attorney in Summit County, Ohio, from 1995 until 1999, and a judge of the Summit County Court of Common Pleas from 1993 until 1995.

In 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice appointed Chief Justice O'Connor to be one of 4 state court chief justices on the Federal-State Jurisdiction Committee, where she served for a maximum term of 6 years.

In 2023 recommended by the USIAD for AGE membership, appointed by Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine.
