On 24 May 2024, Acting Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhiy Holovaty presented the publication “The Constitution of Ukraine in the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine: Official Interpretation and Legal Positions”, which is the constitutional legacy of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, to the judges of the Court and the staff of the Secretariat of the Court. The publication contains the official text of the Constitution of Ukraine with excerpts from the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the official interpretation of its articles for the period from 1997 to 2023.
In his speech, Serhiy Holovaty emphasised the importance of understanding the national constitutional doctrine, since if one does not know or understand it, it is impossible to talk about the possibility of practical application of the fundamental principles of national law. He outlined the doctrines of division of power, fundamental rights, judicial review, proportionality, constitutional acts, and others.
Serhiy Holovaty underscored that “it is important to proceed with work that is the purpose of the constitutional jurisdiction – to carry out the Court’s activities based on the principle of evolutionary development of the official constitutional doctrine”.
Finally, Serhiy Holovaty thanked the judges and staff of the Court for their joint work and wished them success.
