Results of Consideration of Cases in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

Today, July 1, the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at its in-camera parts of the plenary sessions proceeded with consideration of a number of cases, in particular:

• upon the constitutional petition of 51 People's Deputies of Ukraine on the constitutionality of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language”;

• upon the constitutional petitions of the Supreme Court of Ukraine on the constitutionality of the provisions of paragraph 6 of part one, paragraphs 2, 13 of part two, part three of Article 3 of the Law of Ukraine “On Government Cleansing” of September 16, 2014 No. 1682–VII, 47 People's Deputies of Ukraine on the constitutionality of the provisions of parts three, six of Article 1, parts one, two, three, four, eight of Article 3, paragraph 2 of part five of Article 5, paragraph 2 of the Final and Transitional Provisions of this Law, the Supreme Court of Ukraine on the constitutionality of the provisions of part three of Article 1, paragraphs 7, 8, 9 of part one, paragraph 4 of part two of Article 3, paragraph 2 of the Final and Transitional Provisions of this Law and the Supreme Court of Ukraine on the constitutionality of part three of Article 4 of the respective Law;

• upon the constitutional petition of 142 People's Deputies of Ukraine regarding the official interpretation of a certain provision of paragraph four of the preamble of the Constitution of Ukraine.

Consideration of these cases will be continued at one of the next plenary sessions.

In addition, at a session the Grand Chamber of the Court adopted a ruling to extend the term of adopting a ruling by the Second Board of Judges of the First Senate of the Court to initiate or refuse to initiate constitutional proceedings in the case upon the constitutional complaint of Mykhailo Tsymbal.

In addition, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at its session adopted a ruling on introducing amendments to the personnel of the Standing Commission on Rules of Procedure and Ethics of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

On the same day, the First Board of Judges of the Second Senate of the Court considered to initiate constitutional proceedings upon the constitutional complaint of Yuliia Kuzmenko regarding the constitutionality of the provisions of part two of Article 392 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and Iryna Pirkha's constitutional complaint concerning the constitutionality of a specific provision of part three of Article 272 of the Code of Administrative Procedure of Ukraine..

Based on the results of the review, 2 rulings (final) of the Board of Judges on refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in the cases were adopted.
