On Tuesday, August 31, plenary sessions and sessions of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, as well as sessions of the Board of Judges were held.

At the in-camera part of the plenary sessions, the Grand Chamber considered the case upon the constitutional petition of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights on the constitutionality of Article 90, paragraph 2.1 of Section XI "Final and Transitional Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On Civil Service" of December 10, 2015 № 889-VIII, Article 21.7 of the Law of Ukraine “On Service in Local Self-Government Bodies”, as well as the case upon the constitutional petition of 47 People's Deputies of Ukraine on compliance of certain provisions of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting”, Articles 15, 15-1, 26 of the Law of Ukraine "On Cinematography" with the Constitution of Ukraine (constitutionality).

The Court will proceed with consideration of these cases at one of the further plenary sessions.

The Grand Chamber at its session continued consideration of the issue of initiating constitutional proceedings in the case upon the constitutional petition of 46 People's Deputies of Ukraine on the constitutionality of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "On the Appointment of Serhiy Shkarlet as Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine". Based on the results of consideration of this issue, a Ruling on the refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in the case was adopted.

In addition, the Grand Chamber adopted 35 rulings extending the term for adopting the rulings by the Boards of Judges of the First and Second Senates of the Court on initiating or refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in cases upon constitutional appeal and constitutional complaints.

On the same day, a session of the Third Board of Judges of the First Senate of the Court was held in order to consider the issue of initiating constitutional proceedings in cases upon constitutional complaints. As a result of the consideration, the rulings were adopted on refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in cases upon constitutional complaints of F.O. Feshchenko, V.E. Blats, Y.L. Kuzmenko, K.O. Nosik and Public Joint Stock Company "Ukrnafta", as well as rulings on the initiating constitutional proceedings in cases upon constitutional complaints of V.V. Zhydenko and A.P. Bolotnikova.
