Assembly of the Research Advisory Council of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took place

On October 22 the Third Assembly of the Research Advisory Council of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took place in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. It was attended by members of the Research Advisory Board, judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the head of the Court Secretariat Viktor Beschastnyi.

Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhiy Holovaty opened the Assembly with a welcoming speech. He stressed that this year the Constitutional Court of Ukraine marks a symbolic date - 25 years since the establishment of the Court. In this context, he mentioned those who stood at the origins of the establishment of a body of constitutional review, in particular Leonid Yuzkov.

Addressing the audience, Serhiy Holovaty thanked the members of the Research Advisory Council of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, scientists and the academic community for providing more than six thousand research opinions upon the requests of judges-rapporteurs in constitutional proceedings. Their legal substantiations were used in the adoption of 418 decisions and opinion of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Kolisnyk and Viktor Kychun and Deputy Chairman of the Research Advisory Council of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Serhiy Riznyk also addressed the participants of the event.

The participants of the assembly discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between the Research Advisory Council and the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine also awarded the members of the Scientific Advisory Council who prepared the largest number of research advisory opinions in constitutional proceedings upon the request of the judges-rapporteurs of the Constitutional Court. Thus, Oleksandr Batanov, Antonina Bobkova, Valentina Vasylieva, Iryna Koval, Anzhelika Krakowska and Iryna Shchebetun were awarded the badge “Distinction of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine”.
