General portrait of Candidates for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU)

The Advisory Group of Experts processed data on candidates and made a short portrait for general understanding – who is currently applying for the position of judge of the CCU.

So, among 37 candidates, there are – 12 women and 25 men, including 17 Doctors of Sciences and 14 Ph.D – are applying for 5 vacant positions of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The average age of candidates for the position of judge of the CCU is 50 years old, the youngest is 40 years old, and the oldest one is 64 years old.

According to the main professional activity, the absolute majority of candidates are judges – 16 persons, as well as university professors/scientists – 9 persons.

As well, there are – 2 acting People's Deputies of Ukraine, 2 Members of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, 2 Advocates and 2 Lawyers.

Among the candidates are also 1 Prosecutor and 1 Detective of NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine), 1 Member of National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA) and 1 Employee of the CCU Secretariat.

We remind you that, overall, AGE has received documents on 41 candidates.

Three of them are nominated simultaneously by the Parliament and Council of Judges of Ukraine.

One candidate filed an application for termination of her participation in the competitive selection process after AGE had received the documents.
