Advisory Group of Experts considered applications for self-recusal and appointed a new AGE member

On May 21, 2024, a meeting of the AGE took place, at which the Advisory Group of Experts considered the applications of the AGE members and made a few personnel decisions.

First of all, the AGE considered and satisfied the application of AGE member Nataliia Kuznietsova about the early termination of her powers.

The AGE members sincerely thanked Mrs. Kuznietsova for the joint fruitful work.

After that, the AGE unanimously voted to appoint the deputy of Nataliia Kuznietsova to the vacant position of a Member of the Advisory Group of Experts.

So within the legal term of Nataliia Kuznietsova power, her deputy Vasyl Shakun will be the new member of the AGE.

The AGE also considered the application of the AGE member Oksana Vasylchenko for self-recusal from evaluating some candidates due to a potential conflict of interest.

Therefore, the Advisory Group satisfied the application of AGE member Oksana Vasylchenko for self-recusal regarding the evaluation of the candidate for the position of judge of the CCU – Nataliia Syza, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistic of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of the Taras Shevchenko National University.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the AGE Ales Zalar called again all professional lawyers to participate in competitions for the positions of judges of the CCU.

"I would like to draw the attention of the professional community that from tomorrow – May 22 and until June 20, the acceptance of documents for participation in the competition for two vacant positions of judges of the CCU under the quota of the Parliament will continue.

There are definitely honest professionals among you who can become judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine", – Ales Zalar emphasized.

Also, the Chairman of the AGE thanked the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the urgent processing of the decisions of the AGE regarding candidates for one vacant position under the Parliament's quota and the recommendation to submit the candidates for voting.

"We hope that in the near future the Parliament will elect one of these candidates as a new judge of the CCU", – noted the Chairman of the AGE.

We will also remind you that on May 13, 2024, the AGE sent the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine all the necessary materials regarding the evaluated candidates for the position of judge of the CCU, as it provided by the Law of Ukraine "On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine".
