Volodymyr Vozniuk

 

Volodymyr Vozniuk was born in 1949 in Shchytyn, Volyn region, in a peasant's family.

He started to work in 1966 as a worker at a construction of the Kremenchug refinery. Mr. Vozniuk served compulsory military service.

He graduated from the Law Faculty of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko State University (at present - Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University) in 1976.

The same year he was elected People’s Judge of Dniprovskyi district court in Kyiv.

Since 1980 he served as a judge at Kyiv city court.

In 1989 he was elected judge of the Supreme Court of Ukraine. In 1995 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Judicial Collegium on criminal cases of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.

In September 1996 at the Third (extraordinary) Congress of Judges of Ukraine he was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. Secretary of a Collegium of Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

On October 19, 2002 at the special plenary session of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and served his term until October 18, 2005.

Since 1987 he taught (part-time) at the Law Faculty of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University.

Distinguished Lawyer of Ukraine.

Mr. Vozniuk participated in drafting the Concept of the judicial and legal reform, the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary” and other legal acts.

Volodymyr Vozniuk’s authorities were terminated on October 19, 2005.
