Former Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

 

Petro Stetsiuk was born in 1962 in Kopachentsi village, Horodenkivskyi district, Ivano-Frankivsk region in a peasant’s family.

After finishing Ivano-Frankivsk Technical vocational school No. 1 he began to work as an assistant to locomotive engine driver, then served a regular term in the army.

In 1989 he graduated with distinction from the Law Faculty of Lviv Ivan Franko State University.

He was an intern at Kitsmanskyi district people’s court in Chernivtsi region and Shevchenkivskyi district people’s court in Lviv, assistant at the Department of State and Administrative Law of Lviv Ivan Franko State University, completed his post-graduate studies at this University.

From 1994 - associate professor at the Department of State and Administrative Law, Vice-President of Lviv Ivan Franko State University (1998-2002). He was twice elected Head of the Department of Constitutional, Administrative and Financial Law of Lviv Ivan Franko State University (1998, 2003),

In August 2006 he was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He swore the oath on August 4, 2006.

Candidate of Legal Sciences (1994), Associate Professor (1996), Doctor of Law (1997), Distinguished Lawyer of Ukraine (2008).

Author of over 100 publications on constitutional law.

On July 5, 2016 according to the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Petro Stetsiuk was dismissed upon his submission on resignation.
