STATEMENT

of the Assembly of Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky,

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov,

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal

Pursuant to Article 149.2 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Article 24 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine”, any influence on a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine shall be prohibited.

For several months, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has been under constant pressure on the part of bodies of state power, including the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption of Ukraine, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, and some politicians. Illegal influence is exerted on both individual judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the Court on the whole in order to stop its work, undermine its authority and lose public confidence.

We officially declare that contrary to the attempts of some high-ranking officials and politicians to destabilise the work of the body of constitutional jurisdiction, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine will be guided in its work by the Constitution, the Law of Ukraine “On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine” and will act exclusively in the interests of the Ukrainian people.

Despite all the circumstances and conditions in which the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has had to work for a long time, despite allegations in partiality and bias, dissemination of compromising information on the professional activities of judges and threats of criminal prosecution, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine will continue to further ensure the supremacy of the Constitution and the protection of human and citizen’s rights.

By the decision of the assembly of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Oleksandr Tupytskyi is commissioned to personally inform the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Ukraine about the situation.
