The State Flag of Ukraine was raised on the occasion of the Day of Unity
Today, on January 22, the official ceremony of raising the State Flag of Ukraine in honor of the Day of Unity of Ukraine took place on the square near the building of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
This day is included in the national calendar as a significant national holiday and is celebrated annually in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine. More than a hundred years ago, on this very day, in Kyiv on Sofiyska Square, the Universal of the Directory of the Ukrainian People's Republic was proclaimed, which was called "Act Zluky" (the "Unification Act"). Since then, the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic have become a single Ukrainian state. This important document forever united the Ukrainian lands, which historically belonged to our people, and became the beginning of the recent history of Ukrainian statehood.
Historical experience reminds us that unity is our strength, and the main value for all of us is an independent and integral state.
Every year on the Day of Unity, thousands of Ukrainians create a continuous human chain as a symbol of the unity of the eastern and western lands of Ukraine, reminding society of the origins of our independence.
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine joins in the celebration of this holiday and wishes everyone good health, happiness, harmony, peace, goodness, deep faith in the happy and dignified future of Ukraine!
