The solemn ceremony of taking the oath by judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhii Holovatyi and Vasyl Lemak

On March 2, 2018 at the special plenary session of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the solemn ceremony of taking the oath by judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhii Holovatyi and Vasyl Lemak was held.

 

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Chairman of the Supreme Court Valentyna Danishevska, Chairman of the Council of Judges Valentyna Symonenko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Oleksii Filatov, judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Horodovenko, Mykhailo Hultai, Oleksandr Kasminin, Viktor Kolisnyk, Oleksandr Lytvynov, Volodymyr Moisyk, Serhii Sas, Natalia Shaptala, Ihor Slidenko, Oleksandr Tupytskyi, Mykhailo Zaporozhets, Stanislav Shevchuk, former judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the Court’s staff, representatives of the mass media and other citizens of Ukraine attended the special plenary session of the Court.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk opened the special plenary session.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko delivered a welcoming speech. He stressed on a powerful strengthening of the Constitutional Court’s professional capacity. According to the President, newly appointed judges are not only well-known lawyers, but are also recognised by constitutionalists in Ukraine and abroad, who have been elected through an open and transparent competition. A complicated mission falls on the shoulders of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, as one of the main innovations in the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in the area of ​​justice is constitutional complaint, noted Petro Poroshenko. The President of Ukraine urged the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to conduct competitive procedures as soon as possible and to appoint two judges by its quota in order the Constitutional Court of Ukraine could finally work in its full composition. The Head of State wished the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine high level of inspiration in their hard way, a long, fruitful, concerted effort for the benefit of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhii Holovatyi and Vasyl Lemak took the oath and certified their texts by personal signatures. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk presented judges with the judge’s gown, badge, and congratulated them on the acquiring the authority of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and wished success in work in this position.

To remind, judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhii Holovatyi and Vasyl Lemak were appointed by the Decrees of the President of Ukraine dated February 27, 2018, № 45/2018 and № 46/2018 respectively.
