Сelebrations held at the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine
On June 28, 1996 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Constitution of Ukraine - the first Constitution of the independent Ukrainian state, which proclaimed the legal foundations of an independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, helped to further enhance the international image of Ukraine in the world.
The Constitution of Ukraine entered into force on the day of its adoption. To mark this event a national holiday – the Day of Constitution of Ukraine - is celebrated annually.
This year, on June 27, on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine and within information and educational activities provided by the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On the 18th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine", the Constitutional Court of Ukraine held a number of solemn events. It should be noted that for the first time the Constitutional Court of Ukraine held a public day for citizens, court staff family members, and therefore preparation for this event was thorough.
A Court tour was organised for the guests, which included a review of the history, mandate, tasks, specific features of functioning of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. Participants learned a lot of interesting facts about international activities of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, tasks and organisation of the specific departments of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. They also visited the session hall, museum exhibition, watched a video-film about the history of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and its activities aimed at the protection of human and citizen’s rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Basic Law.
After this, guests were invited to the solemn session with 
participation of the Chairman and judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, leadership of the Secretariat and Court staff. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin welcomed the participants, and noted that the Constitution Day of Ukraine is a special day for constitutionalists, since the activities of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine are directly related to the Constitution. "The Constitutional Court of Ukraine is the guardian of the Constitution of Ukraine, which entered into public life as the main guardian of the state and democracy, the guarantor of the independence and unity of Ukraine. Its highest legal force, rule of law, political, economic and ideological diversity are the fundamental principles on which the present and future of the Ukrainian people is based", said Yurii Baulin.
The Chairman thanked the staff of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for their hard work and their friends and families - for their support, as in today's difficult times the well-being of our country depends on every citizen. At the end Yurii Baulincongratulated all present on the Constitution Day of Ukraine and wished them peace, prosperity and welfare.
On the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine on June 28 the State Flag of Ukraine was raised at the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
