Scientific consultants of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Volodymyr Kochyn, Tetiana Blashchuk, Iryna Lomeiko, Makar Marchuk, Alona Melnykovych, Lesia Ponomarenko and representatives of the Secretariat Oksana Zhytnyk and Iryna Shevchenko paid a study visit to the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic from 3 February to 8 February 2025 as part of the implementation of the joint Memorandum on the development of cooperation.
The Ukrainian delegation was welcomed by the President of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic Ivan Fiačan and informed about the status and powers of their Constitutional Court.
Slovak colleagues shared their experience on various issues of constitutional jurisdiction. In particular, the parties analysed the peculiarities of the functioning of the institution of constitutional complaint in both countries and exchanged experience on its effectiveness in protecting the rights of citizens. The participants also offered their own views on how to address the issues under discussion. The parties also focused on the application of the EU acquis by the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic.
The participants stressed that such professional exchanges are effective in improving and enhancing the work of both constitutional courts.
