Natalia Shaptala was elected Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

On May 14, 2019, a meeting of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took place. At this meeting the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine adopted the Decision of no confidence in the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk and proceeded to the special plenary session.

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine at a special plenary session adopted the Resolution on the dismissal of Stanislav Shevchuk from office of a Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the basis of subparagraph 3 of paragraph 2 of Article 149¹ of the Constitution of Ukraine.

The same day Natalia Shaptala was elected Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at a special plenary session. In accordance with Article 33 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine", Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine shall be elected at a special plenary session of the Court for a single three-year term.

Natalia Shaptala was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the X Congress of Judges of Ukraine in September 2010. Natalia Shaptala took the oath of a Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on September 21, 2010. According to Article 16 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine", a Constitutional Court Judge shall be appointed for the term of nine years, without the right to reappointment. The term of nine years of the Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Natalia Shaptala expires in September 2019.
