Meeting of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin with the President of the Constitutional Court of theRepublic of Lithuania Dainius Žalimas
Interlocutors discussed the state and prospects of further cooperation between the bodies of constitutional jurisdiction of both countries and noted the constructive character of the development of cooperation at bilateral, regional and global levels. In this context, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania Dainius Žalimas invited Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yu.Baulin to take part in the events dedicated to the celebration of the anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic ofLithuania to be held in Vilnius on October 26, 2015.
During the meeting the interlocutors touched upon the constitutional reform inUkraine, in particular in the sphere of justice system reform, including the authorities of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. According to the Lithuanian constitutionalist, introduction of the institute of the constitutional complaint is a significant step towards strengthening the national system of protection of human and citizen’s rights and freedoms in Ukraine.
Yurii Baulin and Dainius Žalimas also exchanged their experience on the topical issues of constitutional justice and shared information about the courts’ jurisprudence on social issues, pensions of specific categories of citizens, guarantees of independence of judges and so on.
In conclusion, Yurii Baulin and Dainius Žalimas thanked each other for the interesting dialogue and expressed hope that fruitful cooperation and friendly relations between the Constitutional Courts of Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania will be actively developing in future.
The meeting was attended by Chancellor of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Danėlienė and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Gvidas Kerušauskas.
