Information on plenary sessions and session of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

 

On February 18, 2021, at the plenary sessions of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine cases upon the constitutional petition of 51 People's Deputies of Ukraine regarding the constitutionality of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State Language” and upon the constitutional petition of 142 People's Deputies of Ukraine concerning the official interpretation of a specific provision of the paragraph four of the preamble of the Constitution of Ukraine were considered. Their consideration will be continued at one of the next plenary sessions of the Grand Chamber.

The issue on the form of constitutional proceedings in the case upon the constitutional petition of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights regarding compliance of the provisions of Article 16.5, Article 16.16 of the Fundamentals of Legislation of Ukraine on Health Care, Article 4.6 of the Law of Ukraine “On State financial guarantees of medical care”, Article 29.4 of the Law of Ukraine “On protection of the population from infectious diseases”, paragraph two of Section II of the Law of Ukraine “On amendments and repeal of certain legislative acts of Ukraine”. Upon the consideration of this issue, the Court adopted the Ruling No. 6-u/2021 on consideration of the case in the form of written proceedings.

Next, the Court considered the issue on initiating the proceedings in the case upon the constitutional petition of People's Deputies of Ukraine concerning the constitutionality of paragraph 31 of Section IV “Final and Transitional Provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities” in the wording of the Law of Ukraine “On Introducing Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities” to authorise the President of Ukraine to ensure the sustainable operation of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities”. Consideration of the issue will be continued at one of the next sessions of the Grand Chamber.
