The First Senate of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine proceeded to the in-camera part of the plenary session in the case upon the constitutional complaint of Taras Zayets

On December 23, the First Senate of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at the public part of plenary session in the form of written proceedings considered the case upon the constitutional complaint of Taras Zayets on the constitutionality of the provisions of Article 88.3 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and Status of Judges" of June 2, 2016 №1402-VIII (hereinafter - the Law).

Judge-Rapporteur in the case Petro Filiuk reported on the content of the constitutional complaint and the grounds for initiating constitutional proceedings in the case.

Thus, the complainant considers that the disputed provisions of the Law restrict his constitutional right to judicial protection and the right to appeal the decision of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

Having concluded consideration of the case at the public part of plenary session, the First Senate of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine proceeded to the in-camera part for a decision.

The public part of the plenary session is available on the official website of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at the following link: http://ccu.gov.ua/kategoriya/2020.
