A constitutional petition regarding constitutionality of the Law of Ukraine On the High Anti-Corruption Court” was filed to the Court

On July 22, 49 People's Deputies of Ukraine filed a constitutional petition to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The subject of the right to constitutional petition appealed to the Constitutional Court to declare the Law of Ukraine “On the High Anti-Corruption Court” dated June 7, 2018 № 2447-VIII as such that does not comply with the Constitution of Ukraine.

People's Deputies of Ukraine consider the respective Law to be unconstitutional in general. “… Key provisions of this legal act (regarding the status, powers of the High Anti-Corruption Court, determination of the number of judges of this court, and requirements for candidates to the office of judge, competition procedures, etc.) have apparent (obvious) signs of non-compliance with the Basic Law of Ukraine, and without which Law № 2447 cannot be applied at all,” the petition states.

The text of the constitutional petition can be found on the official website of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine under the heading “Pending before the Court”.
