The Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine signed Memorandum on Co-operation
On July 16, 2014 the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, Ambassador Madina Jarbussynova signed the Memorandum on Co-operation between the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, which defines the principles and directions of the project co-operation between the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to promote international standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms, the rule of law and democratic development, strengthening of the institutional capacity of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and its Secretariat. The document provides for the development and implementation of joint projects, holding of joint activities, including meetings, seminars, round tables, conferences, training programs, educational campaigns and so on.
In particular, the parties agreed on the need to spread knowledge of international experience and practice of the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms by bodies of constitutional jurisdiction, training of judges and the staff of the Court’s Secretariat, support of the institutional and technical capacity of the Court.
During the solemn ceremony Yurii Baulin noted that many important areas are reflected in this document. In her turn, Madina Jarbussynova emphasised the importance of the Memorandum, since its provisions will facilitate the development of bilateral relations in the protection of the supremacy of the Constitution and human and citizen’s rights and freedoms.
"If you want peace, stick to justice, which should be the basis of our actions. We are happy to continue to work together to achieve these goals", stressed the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.
