Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin held meeting with OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine MadinaJarbussynova

 

            On May 5, 2014 the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin held meeting with OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Ambassador Madina Jarbussynova. Oleksandr Vodyannikov, OSCE National Legal Advisor, NataliaStupnytska, National Project Manager at OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine and Stanislav Shevchuk, judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took part in the meeting. The meeting with the representatives of the Office of the OSCEProject Co-ordinator in Ukraine has become the continuation of the tradition of cooperation between Ukrainian constitutionalists and experts of the OSCE since 1997. Collocutors discussed the issues on constitutional reforms inUkraine and amendments to the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, as well as number of measures which would further the reform of the constitutional system of Ukraine. Madina Jarbussynova stressed that it was important that imposed tasks should have been implemented.

         Meanwhile, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine noted that the important transformations had already taken place in the constitutional and legal regulation of the state but there was still a lot of work ahead. He also stressed on the fact that the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine would probably touch the Constitutional Court of Ukraine as well.        

         Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk expressed the opinion on the reform of the constitutional system in which he supported the opinion of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the issue.

         The representatives of the OSCE, for their part, expressed the readiness to provide not just formal but practical assistance as well.

         During the meeting the participants exchanged opinions on current issues on the constitutional justice, in particular, on realization and protection of citizens’ constitutional rights and freedoms, problems of international judicial jurisprudence, application of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights etc.

         At the end of the meeting Yurii Baulin wished the collocutors successful activity of OSCE Office and expressed hope for realization of all above tasks. Madina Jarbussynova thanked the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and all the participants of the meeting for understanding of the issues which are of great importance for European part, possibility to discuss them with authoritative experts and to understand better the legal processes in Ukraine.
