On September 24, 2025, at a special plenary session of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, a solemn ceremony was held for the newly appointed judge of the Court, Yurii Barabash, to take the oath of office. The judge certified the text of the oath with his personal signature.
The Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Oleksandr Petryshyn handed over a robe, a badge and a card of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to Yurii Barabash.
On behalf of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Oleksandr Petryshyn congratulated Yurii Barabash on becoming a judge:
“This is a special event that marks a new stage in your professional life and at the same time opens up new horizons for serving the state and society. You are joining an institution that is the guardian of the Constitution of Ukraine, upholds democratic values, ensures the rule of law, and protects human rights and freedoms. From now on, you have an honourable and extremely responsible mission. May your work as part of the Court contribute to the affirmation of constitutional values, the protection of human rights, and the further strengthening of the democratic foundations of our state,” he emphasised.
Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Serhiy Dembovskyi, Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and Bohdan Monich, Chairman of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, addressed the audience with welcoming speeches. In particular, they emphasised the procedure for selecting judges, which is currently based on an open competition, thereby strengthening public confidence in the Court.
The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by Andriy Pasichnyk, Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine; Maksym Dyrdin, Permanent Representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine; Serhiy Vdovichenko, Chairman of the Association of Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine; and other officials, representatives of state authorities, the scientific community, and the media.
