AGE and NAPC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation
On December 7, 2023, the Advisory Group of Experts (AGE) and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to consolide efforts in the field of corruption prevention, to form an honest and highly professional corps of judges, in particular judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
The Chairman of the AGE Ales Zalar thanked the Chairman of the NAPC Oleksandr Novikov for supporting the activities of the Advisory Group of Experts and noted: "It is quite symbolic and indicative that the newly created AGE first of all signed the Memorandum on cooperation with NAPC. After all, the mission of NAPC includes ``Building an honest government and a just society'' and is totally consistent with our great common goal, which is an honest and professional Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
Alesh Zalar also expressed hope that the cooperation between the AGE and the NAPC will be fruitful and will allow for a more complete and qualitative assessment of candidates for the positions of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. “
The AGE Secretary Yaroslav Romanyuk added that the success of important reforms always depends on the quality of cooperation of all involved parties and the interaction of the AGE with the NAPC will allow to create an effective mechanism for selecting professional and honest future judges of the CCU.
The NAPC Head Oleksandr Novikov declared the NAPC's undisputed support and full readiness to help the Advisory Group of Experts perform its work on candidate evaluation as efficiently as possible.
"At one time, I myself underwent a similar check, that the AGE will carry out regarding candidates for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. Therefore, we are ready to help the Advisory Group of Experts to ensure that only honest people administer justice, in particular in the CCU. After all, integrity is a value-based foundation for the victory of freedom, democracy and the rule of law," said Oleksandr Novikov.
The memorandum, in particular, envisages the prompt receipt by the members of the Advisory Group of Experts of information, copies of documents and materials required for the performance of the AGE functions, defined by the Law of Ukraine "On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine".
We would like to remind that on December 4, the AGE adopted the Methodology for Assessing the Moral Qualities and Level of Competence in the Field of Law of Candidates for the Position of Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and also actively started working with the received documents regarding the candidates and collecting information about them necessary for evaluation.
