On 18 September, within a working visit to Brussels to participate in the second EU-Ukraine bilateral meeting within the framework of the screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law, Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Gorodovenko held a working meeting with the Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community Vsevolod Chentsov.
The parties discussed holding bilateral meetings between Ukraine and the EU.
The judge informed the Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community about the role of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in matters related to the European integration processes in Ukraine.
Viktor Gorodovenko emphasised the key role of the Court in ensuring the rule of law. He noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has not terminated its work for a single day. It has deliberated a number of cases and delivered a lot of acts, in particular, regarding guarantees of social protection of citizens, as well as those aimed at strengthening Ukraine's independence. The judge stressed that in its activities the Constitutional Court of Ukraine increasingly relies on European standards, and its decisions are based on international law, the provisions of the European Union's acts and the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
