On July 13, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine held plenary sessions and sessions of the Grand Chamber, as well as sessions of the Boards of Judges of the Court.
The Court’s Grand Chamber at the in-camera part of the plenary session considered the case upon the constitutional petition of 51 People's Deputies of Ukraine on compliance of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language" with the Constitution of Ukraine. The Court will proceed with consideration of this case on July 14.
Also at its session, the Grand Chamber adopted 12 rulings on extending the term of the adoption of ruling by the Third Board of Judges of the Second Senate, the Second Board of Judges of the First Senate, the Third Board of Judges of the First Senate of the Court on initiating or refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in the case upon constitutional appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and constitutional complaints of Andriy Mashchenko, Serhiy Syrotenko, Volodymyr Yeromin, Oleh Tyshchenko, Nataliia Kalashnyk, Serhiy Rassolenko, Yevhen Vovk, Vladyslav Duda, Ivan Zhyznev, Yuliia Kuzmenko, and Volodymyr Zhydenko.
In addition, the First Board of Judges of the First Senate and the Second Board of Judges of the Second Senate of the Court considered the issue of initiating constitutional proceedings in cases upon constitutional complaints of Mykola Porayk on the constitutionality of certain provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the Deposit Guarantee System for Individuals", Yevhen Korzh on the constitutionality of paragraph 1.4 of Article 374.4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine, as well as Andriy Chernykh on the constitutionality of the provisions of Article 4.1, paragraphs 1, 2 of Article 7.2 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection". Based on the results of the consideration, the Boards of Judges adopted three final rulings on refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in these cases.
