Working visit of the delegation of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to Lithuania
On October 24-27, 2018, the delegation of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine headed by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk and composed of the judges of the Court Vasyl Lemak and Ihor Slidenko paid a working visit to the city of Vilnius (Lithuania).
The programme of the visit included the participation in the meeting of the Association of Constitutional Justice of the countries of the Baltic and Black Sea Regions (BBCJ) and the BBCJ General Assembly, as well as in the International Conference of the Justices of the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Poland and Ukraine - Vilnius Forum.
Within the framework of the Vilnius Forum the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk delivered a report on "Constitutional Standards of Responsible Governance". The event was also attended by the representatives of the constitutional control bodies of Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine, representatives of the public authorities of Lithuania and academics.
In addition, the delegation of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took part in the Annual International Scientific-Practical Conference dedicated to the Day of the Constitution "The 25th Anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania: Experience and New Challenges", organised by Mykolas Romeris University, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, the Committee on Legal Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Bar Association.
During the International Conference the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk delivered a report on "Ensuring the Effective Observance of Constitutional Human Rights and Freedoms as Part of Ukraine's Course on Euro-Atlantic Integration".
The event was organised within the framework of the project "Assistance to the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine in Ensuring the Implementation and Protection of the Principles of the Rule of Law in the Context of Regional Challenges”, funded under the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
