Oleksandr Myronenko

(1942-2014)

 

Oleksandr Myronenko was born in 1942 in Pokrovske, Veselynivskyi district, Mykolayiv region in a peasant’s family.

He began to work in 1959 as locksmith at the Mykolayiv shipbuilding plant. Mr. Myronenko served compulsory military service.

He graduated from the Law Faculty of Odessa Mechnykov State University in 1971 and in 1977 he completed his post-graduate studies at the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow. He worked in the Party bodies and its youth units.

From 1983 he was involved in research work at Koretskyi Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as a senior research assistant, and then Head of the Department of Historical and Political Research of State and Law of Ukraine.

From 1988 – Head of the Section of the Coordination Council for Fundamental Legal Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

From 1994 – Head of the Commission on research of history of the Ukrainian law at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In October 1996 he was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Doctor of Philosophy, Professor.

Full Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Political Sciences, Corresponding Member of the

Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.

Distinguished Scientist and Technologist of Ukraine.

Author of individual 12 monographs, 30 text-books, about 800 scientific articles, co-author of 53 group monographs, encyclopedic publications and manuals. His works are focused on the history of state and law, the history of legal and political studies, the philosophy of law and political science.

Oleksandr Myronenko’s authorities of a Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine were terminated on October 19, 2005.

Mr. Myronenko died on November 11, 2014.
